The Children & Youth Resilience Hub upholds the principles of A COP Fit for Children and the child-safeguarding standards of leading child-rights organisations such as UNICEF, Save the Children and Child Fund. Everyone who takes part in, works at, or visits the Hub helps keep it safe.
Our commitment
- Every child and young person has the right to participate free from harm, exploitation and discrimination.
- Meaningful participation is safe participation, sessions, spaces and travel are designed with young people’s wellbeing at the centre.
- All volunteers, facilitators and partners are briefed on our safeguarding expectations and code of conduct.
- We follow the UNCCD Code of Conduct for conferences and events, and work with the mechanisms in place for reporting and investigating concerns.
Safeguarding at COP17
Throughout COP17 the Hub will have designated Child Safeguarding Officers on the ground. Children, young people and chaperones can approach any of them with a concern or for support. Their responsibilities include being easily contactable, providing clear child-friendly information, and recording and escalating any concern through the agreed channels.
How to report a concern. Report any incident to a badged UN Department of Safety and Security (UNDSS) officer on the ground, to any Hub Child Safeguarding Officer, or by email to gfps@unccdyouthcaucus.org. In an emergency, contact venue security or local emergency services immediately.
