What is the Children & Youth Resilience Hub?

A dedicated space, physical at UNCCD COP and digital all year round, where children and young people lead the response to desertification, land degradation and drought. It is led by youth, for youth, as an independent initiative.

What is UNCCD COP17?

COP17 is the 17th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention to Combat Desertification. It is hosted by Mongolia in Ulaanbaatar from 17–28 August 2026 under the theme “Restoring Land. Restoring Hope.” The Hub sits alongside the official COP17 Youth Forum.

Who can take part?

Any child or young person who cares about land, drought and their future, whether an individual changemaker or part of a youth-led organisation. Some activities are open to all; on-the-ground delegate roles may have age, accreditation or capacity requirements we publish in advance.

Do I have to travel to Mongolia to join?

No. The Hub is hybrid by design. Many sessions highlights are provided on our Instagram page.

Does it cost anything?

Joining the UNCCD Youth Caucus and all the online programmes, is free. In-person participation at COP17 involves travel, accommodation and UNCCD accreditation.

How is my safety looked after?

Safeguarding is central. The Hub follows A COP Fit for Children principles and the UNCCD Code of Conduct, with dedicated Child Safeguarding Officers on the ground. See the Safeguarding page for detail and reporting channels.

Can my organisation host a session or partner with us?

Yes, youth networks, NGOs, agencies and funders are welcome. Priority goes to youth-led and youth-centred proposals.

How do I stay updated?
